Huawei unveils Honor V10 in China
Huawei subsidiary Honor has just launched its new flagship smartphone for the second half of the year with the Honor V10 in China, following the trend towards 2: 1 and 18:9 displays, respectively. As expected, much is built here, which can also be found in the Mate 10 of Huawei itself, but Honor also tries to go their own ways in design at the V10 again.
The Honor V10 sports a 5.99-inch LCD panel, which offers full HD resolution with 2160×1080 pixels. Like many other current devices, it has a display in 2:1 format and therefore has much narrower edges than its predecessor. However, Huawei does not put the fingerprint reader on the back here, but rather on the front.
High-end SoC Kirin 970 with integrated AI engine
Inside is now also the Kirin 970, the up to 2.4 gigahertz Octacore fast SoC, which comes up with a so-called Neural Processing Unit (NPU) ex factory with extensive AI functions. The chip has four ARM Cortex-A53 cores that operate at a maximum of 1.84 gigahertz and perform for less demanding tasks, while four other ARM Cortex-A73 cores with up to 2.4 GHz for maximum performance. He also brings a Mali G72 graphics unit, so that in terms of gaming performance is also offered a lot.
Depending on the model, Honor uses 4 or 6 gigabytes of RAM, while the internal flash memory is either 64 or 128 gigabytes in size. Whether it is about fast UFS flash, is still open. An expansion of the memory is unlike the Mate 10 Pro by Huawei itself quite possible. There are also basically two Nano SIM card slots.
20- and 16-megapixel cameras on the back
For the cameras, the Honor V10 uses the combination of a 20- and a 16-megapixel sensor on the back, each with an F / 1.8 aperture and dual-phase auto-detection. On an optical image stabilizer you have to do without but here. As with the Mate 10, the V10, thanks to the AI capabilities of the processor, should be able to recognize the image content and automatically select the optimal settings. On the front sits a 13-megapixel camera, where the AI functions should ensure optimal selfies.
Of course, the V10 will work on Gigabit LTE, Bluetooth and Gigabit WLAN, NFC support is also integrated according to the official data sheets. The built-in battery is according to Honor after all 3750mAh large and should thus ensure decent runtime, even if it does not quite come close to the 4000mAh batteries of the Mate series. The power is supplied by “SuperCharge” technology, so with up to 4.5 amps at five volts, which is ultimately to ensure a good 22 watts, that the battery is filled in less than two hours. After more than half an hour you can make it over the USB Type-C port to more than 50 percent battery charge.
Colorful and cheap
The Honor V10 is housed in a unibody aluminum housing, where the manufacturer tries to integrate the antenna bands well and thus to provide a clean as possible look. With a height of just under seven millimeters and a weight of 172 grams, you move at the usual level. In terms of color, customers can choose between black, blue and combinations of a white front with a gold back or a black front and a red back, at least in China. About the local network operators but there are probably other color variants.
The operating system is Android 8.0 “Oreo” in connection with the newly presented Huawei EMUI 8.0. The Honor V10 costs in China in the basic version with 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of flash memory 2699 yuan, which is equivalent to 343 euros. The output with six GB of RAM and 64 GB of flash costs 2999 yuan, which is about 382 euros. For the top model with six GB of RAM and 128 GB of flash memory 3499 yuan are due, so converted about 445 euros.
