Mediatek introduces MT2621 chipset for Smart trackers, Wearables and IoT security apps
MediaTek has introduced a new chipset called MT2621. The new chipset is built with highly integrated design and connectivity platform for smart trackers, wearable, IoT security, smart metering and industrial applications.
It has a Dual Mode IoT SoC that is capable of both NB-IoT R14 and GSM / GPRS connectivity. It supports a single SIM card along with the antennas that cover the cellular network and adds dual standby capability (SSDS).
Its simplified design enables a single UICC and phone number for both networks, saving both board space and minimizing costs. The SoC Sports Broadband Front End Module is designed to support the Ultra-Low / Mid / Low bands defined by the 3GPP Rel-14, including quad-band operation.
Spec-wise, MediaTek MT2621 has a single-frequency energy-saving ARMv7 CPU, a frequency of 26MHz. It has 160KB + 4MB embedded memory. Applications can be created with an easy-to-configure Linux operating system.
It also has an LCM, camera, and audio AMP interface to provide additional support for audiovisual equipment. It also includes Bluetooth V4.2, which supports low-profile peripheral connections.
