Xiaomi launches Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus with FullView displays
After so many leaks and rumors, Xiaomi has just made its Xiaomi Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus smartphones official in an event held in Beijing today. The design of these two smartphones and some specifications are the same.
However, there are some important differences between the two phones, Like from the screen size to the processor used. The important feature of Xiaomi Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Pulse is given in the 18:9 aspect ratios, which becomes screen-wide.
Xiaomi Redmi 5
Redmi 5 runs Nougat 7.1.2 out of the box alongside the company latest user interface stable MIUI 9 that brings some sweet features like an intelligent assistant and picture-in-picture mode. The device features 5.7” screen with 18:9 ratio and HD+ resolution. Under the hood is Snapdragon 450 chipset built on the 14 nm process technology. It features an octa-core CPU, clocked at 1.8 GHz.
The phone comes in two memory configuration: 2GB RAM with 16 GB storage or 3GB RAM with 32 GB storage. There is also microSD on board that holds up to 128 GB more.
Redmi 5 has a 12-megapixel rear camera which comes with 1.25-micron pixel sensor, flash, and fingerprint scanner while the front facing camera is 5-megapixel with a soft light flash module forward. The phone is also light up with 3,300 mAh battery capacity.
Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus
The Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus, on the other hand, is built with premium-like features as the phone features a more powerful chipset, Snapdragon 625 but have the same appearance with the normal variant. The front panel is mostly occupied by the FullView panel that is 5.99” in diagonal. Being a Plus version, this phone comes with Full HD+ resolution.
The phone also comes with two memory configuration: 3 GB RAM with 32 GB storage or 4 GB RAM with 64 GB storage. The battery capacity is bigger than the normal model as the Plus features a 4,000mAh battery juice.
Xiaomi Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus Price
Xiaomi Redmi 5’s 2 GB RAM / 16GB storage costs 799 Chinese yuan (about 43,459 naira), while 3 GB RAM / 32GB storage is worth 899 Chinese yuan (about 48,898 naira). Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus 3GB RAM / 32GB Storage 999 Chinese Yuan (about 54,338 naira) while 4GB of RAM / 64GB storage variants will be available in 1,299 Chinese Yuan (around 70,655 naira). Both the handsets will be sold from December 12 and the registration will start soon am not aware of when they will be made available in other markets.
