HMD unveiled Nokia 6 (2018) with 5.5” IPS LCD FullHD and Snapdragon 630
Yesterday, HMD Global the caretaker of Nokia Mobile unveiled its second generation Nokia 6 (2018) smartphone. The phone is equipped with an advanced chipset and a reduced footprint, but still, maintain same features of what we saw in the Nokia 6 (2017) model.
The Nokia 6 (2018) has been confirmed to sports a 5.5” IPS LCD of 16:9 FullHD resolution and protected by a sheet of Corning Gorilla Glass 3. Under the hood is Snapdragon 630 with 2.2GHz octa-core CPU alongside 4GB of RAM and storage size of 32GB or 64GB, it can also be expanded to 128GB via MicroSD card.
The phone will boot Android 7.1 Nougat out of the box just like the 2017 version, but the company has promised to bring the update of the latest Android operating (8.0 Oreo) to the device as soon as possible.
The phone is also equipped with the latest USB-C standard for data connection and charging of its 3,000 mAh battery but has the same camera pair as its predecessor which means that device has a single 16MP camera with 1.0um pixels and F/2.0 lens at the back and an 8MP shooter with 1.12um pixels and F/2.2 aperture at the front.
Another major change Nokia brings to its latest Nokia 6 (2018) is the fingerprint sensor, which has moved to the back to help reduce the footprint of the phone. As a result of the second gen Nokia 6 measures 148.8 x 75.8 x 8.15mm (8.6mm thick at the camera), which more is than 5mm shorter than the original one.
The second-gen Nokia 6 or Nokia 6 (2018) is already available for pre-order in Black and Silver color options for CNY1,499 ($230/£170/€190) for the 32GB storage version, while the 64GB one costs CNY1,699($260/£190/€215). The official sales of the device go Live on January 10.
