Amazon acquires GameSparks, a back-end gaming services developer

Amazon has acquired GameSparks, a company that develops and provides cloud services for game developers - for example, leader-boards, notifications, backups, management of a multiplayer, turn-based or real-time server. TechCrunch had reported that the deal had already been signed in July 2017, but there had been no official confirmation. It seems that the company of Jeff Bezos has spent around 10 million dollars.

The confirmation comes with a non-random timing: in a few days, exactly on March 19, will open the GDC or Game Developers Conference, one of the most important game development events for developers. The solutions created by GameSparks will be part of the fair, right at the Amazon stand.

"GameSpark has long shared Amazon's passion to help developers create fantastic gaming experiences" - says the official announcement. "Being part of Amazon means we will continue to grow the service, as well as explore new ways to unleash the power of Amazon and help developers build, run and make their games work."
