Goodnews Startups: A new venture fund from Silicon Valley is now available for you

In just a few days after VP, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo visited Silicon Valley with senior policy-makers and young tech entrepreneurs, the results of the visit are already coming in. An agreement has been signed to set up a new corporate venture fund in partnership with the US-Nigeria Council for Nigerian Startups.

The firm in charge of the fund is Ventures Platform an Africa-focused early-stage VC firm.

According to our earlier report, the goal of the VP's trip to Silicon Valley was to promote Nigeria’s growing tech ecosystem and synergize with Silicon Valley’s tech ecosystem players around capital, mentorship and capacity development.

The new Venture Fund is targeted at post-MVP stage companies with domain expertise building innovative startups to enterprise challenges.

This is how it works, up to $250,000 will be invested into the startup for a start, with an opportunity for more funds to coming in later.

But it's not all about providing Capital as Startups get to enjoy access to market and distribution, growth support and partnerships, talent development, technology, as well as expertise from the fund backers and partners.

The Founding Partner of Ventures Platform,  Kola Aina spoke concerning the partnership,
"We are really excited about the opportunity to get Nigerian corporations and corporate leaders involved in supporting the inevitable future, and we’re pleased to partner with such an important organization as the US-Nigeria Council to make this journey possible."
