It's Official: Android now has a new OS and it is Android Pie (Android 9)

Google has today confirmed the name of its latest Android Operating as Andriod Pie. The Android Pie is the ninth edition of Android OS and also the successor to Android Oreo 8.0 which was launched last year. Google has also revealed that as from today, an over-the-air update to Android 9 will begin rolling out to Pixel phones and devices that participated in the Beta program from Sony Mobile, Xiaomi, HMD Global, Oppo, Vivo, OnePlus and Essential, as well as all qualifying Android One devices like Infinix Note 5, will receive this update by the end of this fall.

Speaking of the Android P orAndroid 9 or Android Pie, it is said to come with several features primarily centered around using machine learning to make your phone smarter. One of these is Adaptive Battery, which figures out which apps you use less and cuts off resources to them to make your battery last longer.

Google also wants to helps you get things done faster with the introduction of App Actions in the Android 9. With the App Action, your smartphone would be able to predict what you'll want to do next based on your context and displays that action right on your phone. Say it's Tuesday morning and you're preparing for your commute: you'll be suggested actions like navigating to work on Google Maps or resuming an audio book with Google Play Books. And when you put in headphones after work, you may see options to call your mom or start your favorite Spotify playlist.

Over years, Google has worked hard in making sure that your device is safe and secure from intruders who might root your privacy and want to get away with valuable information about you. Now, Google is bringing a new industry-leading hardware security capabilities to allow protecting sensitive data like credit card information using a secure, dedicated chip to the Andriod 9 OS. This feature would help brings important privacy improvements, such as TLS by default and DNS over TLS to help protect all web communications and keep them private.
